Judging by tonight’s episode of The Millionaire Matchmaker, which features a narcissistic nerd, a commitment-phobe and 25 homogenous gold diggers, the second season of this reality show is going to be as vulgar and as entertaining as the first.
The setup: Matchmaker Patti Stanger whips wealthy men into shape and sets them loose in a roomful of women to meet, greet and maybe date and mate.
Millionaire No. 1 is David, 28, who has a butler and, worse, a Corvette.
Patti: “When a guy drives a Corvette, it’s like saying, ‘Hello, I have a vagina.’”
David: “My perfect first date is just relaxin’, chillin’ and having sex.”
Patti: “I’m going to vomit.”
But Patti doesn’t vomit. Instead, she gets this “total wackadoo, total bragosaurus” a life coach – excuse me, a “transformational life and relationship coach,” who tries to make him slightly less obnoxious.
Does it work? Does it matter?
The point of this show is not the goofball guys or the plastic girls; they’ve been done better on Beauty and the Geek.
This is beauty and the creep, and it’s all about watching a strong woman – Stanger – take arrogant guys and knock them down a peg.
It’s not love; it’s a female revenge fantasy.
