MONDAY, JUNE 1

CONAN AND KATHY
And, gulp, I’m a Celebrity…
There may be no surer sign the summer television season is in full swing than NBC reviving I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, which will be hard to miss – it’ll be on Mondays through Thursdays for the next few weeks, with MTV airing marathons on Sundays.
I have no idea if I’m a Celebrity is any good. But, assuming it isn’t, at least there are two safer bets tonight for worthwhile TV.
The Tonight Show with new host Conan O’Brien (set pictured) kicks off tonight.
This is an historic moment in TV history. Of course, Jay Leno bowed out on Friday after 17 years as host.
Leno was pretty much nudged out by NBC, which nearly two decades earlier did the same with Johnny Carson. I suppose the idea is to keep Tonight fresh.
In this case, I’m all for it.
O’Brien is, in my opinion, vastly more entertaining than Leno. And, if nothing else, it should be fun to watch him make his mark on Tonight. Will he succeed? Will he fail? Only time will tell.
His guests tonight are Will Ferrell and Pearl Jam.
Meanwhile, the new season of Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List gets underway next week on Bravo.
Tonight, Griffin looks back on the previous seasons, presumably focusing on the funniest scenes, in Kathy Griffin: The Footage You Weren’t Meant to See.
D-List is one of those shows that I sometimes love, sometimes hate. Whittling it down into a recap show should make it palatable, although a little Griffin goes a long, long way.
I’m a Celebrity airs on NBC tonight at 8pm et/pt. Kathy Griffin is on Bravo at 10pm et/pt. And The Tonight Show is on NBC at 11:35pm et/pt.
