Around the remote: Television picks for the week of June 14-20
MONDAY: The romantic courting continues on “The Bachelorette,” but there could be trouble brewing. Turns out some of the suitors might have girlfriends. Oh, that won’t make Jillian happy. 8 p.m., ABC.
MONDAY: There’s more goofy stuff in store on “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.” Tonight, Kathy tries to bribe Grammy voters into giving her a trophy for her latest comedy album. The woman’s got spunk. 9 p.m., Bravo.
TUESDAY: “Wedding Day” is the latest reality series from Mark Burnett (”Survivor”) and Bridezillas need not apply. The show rewards deserving couples with the wedding ceremonies of their wildest dreams. 8 p.m., TNT.
TUESDAY: Bill Engvall is our host for the 2009 CMT Music Awards, which features performances by Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Brad Paisley, Kellie Pickler and others. Sugarland leads the pack with five nominations. 8 p.m., CMT.
TUESDAY: Watch out, Nurse Jackie, you’ve got company. Jada Pinkett Smith makes the rounds in the new drama series, “Hawthorne.” She plays a compassionate and headstrong chief nursing officer at a busy hospital. The show debuts just before the season opener of “Saving Grace.” 9 p.m., TNT.
WEDNESDAY: On a new episode of “MythBusters,” the guys drive in the rain to test a myth involving convertibles. Someone should tell them they’ll get wet if they put the top down. 9 p.m., Discovery.
THURSDAY: The offbeat medical series “Royal Pains” is shaping up as one of the summer’s better offerings. The fun in the Hamptons continues as Hank treats a senator’s son who falls ill with a weird sickness. 10 p.m., USA.
FRIDAY: Things are getting interesting on “The Chopping Block” as the remaining couples are challenged to prepare dishes featuring aphrodisiacs. Count us in. 8 p.m., NBC.
SATURDAY: “Destroy Build Destroy” sounds like our kind of show. It has teens obliterating some kind of structure or machine and creating something entirely different out of it. We say bring on the wrecking balls and explosions. 8:30 p.m., Cartoon Network.
